Project Cornerstone
The YMCA-sponsored ABC (Asset Building Champions) Reader program is a countywide anti-bullying effort focused on healthy social development. Parent volunteers at Marshall Lane actively support the program by reading a book and leading an activity in their child's class once a month that focus on ABCs (Asset Building Champions).
Volunteer Commitment:
● 2-6 lessons throughout the year (up to teacher discretion)
● 1 hour per book for training (virtual)
● 1-1.5 hours per lesson conducted in the classroom (includes pre-lesson prep time)
● 2-3 volunteer parents per class
● sign up with your classroom teacher
Volunteer Responsibilities:
● Complete online cornerstone asset training (new readers only)
● Attend mandatory training for each book you will read for 1 hour
● Trainings are virtual/recorded and can be viewed at any time if you do not attend live.
● Schedule lessons with the teacher
● Read the book to the class and conduct a group activity
All volunteers need to complete a mandatory volunteer application prior to entering campus for repetitive volunteering purposes.
